♦ Scraper set -VAS 861 005-

Refer to processing instructions on manufacturer’s label.

NOTICE

Risk of damage to the primer layer and the paintwork when cutting back the window adhesive.

– Only cut back the window adhesive as far as specified.

– Do not treat cut-back adhesive beads with activator, primer or cleaning solution.

– Keep bonding surface free of dirt and grease.

– Use a suitable scraper -1- from scraper set -VAS 861 005- to cut back remaining material -2- on rear lid flange -3- to 1 to 2 mm just before bonding flange back in. Under no circumstances should it be removed completely.

Note

The remaining material serves as an adhesive base for the newly applied window adhesive.

If bonding is performed one day after cutting back the adhesive bead, the remaining adhesive must be activated with an activator.

NOTICE

Risk of damage to paintwork structure caused by activator.

– Apply activator D 181 802 M1precisely onto adhesive bead that has been cut back, and do not spill any activator.

– Use applicator to apply activator D 181 802 M1 evenly in one pass onto adhesive bead that has been cut back.

Important

● Adhere to drying time of 5 minutes.

● Corresponding areas must be dry.

If the adhesive bead has been partially removed, only the missing area needs to be cleaned, activated and primed anew.

– Clean corresponding areas on body flange all around with plastic cleaner D 195 850 A1 and a lint-free cleaning cloth.

Important

● Adhere to flash-off time of 10 minutes.

● Corresponding areas must be dry.

– Shake activator D 181 655 A1 for at least 2 minutes to make sure that all components are mixed in the correct ratio.

– Apply activator D 181 655 A1 uniformly in one pass using applicator.

● A continuous primer area must be visible.

● Adhere to drying time of 30 minutes.

– Shake primer D 181 220 A1 for at least 2 minutes to make sure that all components are mixed in the correct ratio.

– Apply primer D 181 220 A1 uniformly in one pass using applicator.

Touching up paint damage

– If the paintwork structure is damaged, it must be restored according to specifications in the Paintwork manual → Paintwork structure.
