Special tools and workshop equipment required

♦ Bonnet support -VAS 501 003-

Removing

– Remove bumper cover → Rep. gr.63; Removing and installing bumper cover.

– Detach Bowden cable -5- → Rep. gr.55; Removing and installing Bowden cable.

– Disconnect electrical connector of bonnet contact switch -F266- → Rep. gr.55; Removing and installing bonnet lock.

– Support bonnet using bonnet support -VAS 501 003-.

– Detach filler neck -2- of washer fluid reservoir from lock carrier.

– Unscrew bolts -3-.

– Lift out lock carrier -1-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

– Check for damage on base for adjusting buffer -4- and renew if necessary.

Tightening torques

♦ → Rep. gr.50; Assembly overview – lock carrier

Removing and installing headlight holder carrier

Removing and installing headlight holder carrier

Removal and installation are described for left side of vehicle as an example.

Removing

– Remove lock carrier → Rep. gr.50; Removing and installing lock carrier.

– Remove bumper carrier → Rep. gr.63; Removing and installing bumper carrier.

– Remove headlight → Electrical system; Rep. gr.94; Headlights; Removing and installing headlights.

– Guide electrical wire and washer fluid hose out of lock carrier support.

Right vehicle side – on vehicles with heat pump

– Remove heat pump valve unit → Heating, air conditioning system; Rep. gr.87; Heat pump valve unit; Removing and installing heat pump valve unit.

All vehicles (continued)

– Unscrew bolts -2- and -3-.

– Detach headlight mounting carrier -1-.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

Vehicles with front overhead view camera -R243-

– → Driver assist systems; Rep. gr.98; Overhead view camera; Calibrating overhead view camera system.
